Changes at the Nest...

Raven's Nest Art Gallery recognizes that art is personal. The way one person sees it and reacts to it can be very different than the person standing next to them. Why should one or two people be the judge of what artwork makes it into an exhibition?

As always, we here at Raven's Nest are challenging the norm. Disrupting the status quo. Stirring things up!

The nest is now under the direction of a committee of diverse individuals from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and creative arenas.

“Art is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone will have their own interpretation.”

About Raven's Nest

LORETTA & JASON SCOTT

The idea for an art gallery came to us as we watched one of our daughters become a working artist. Observing that it's often difficult for young and/or emerging artists to get their work into a gallery show, we decided to dedicate a space in our shop as an art gallery.

It is important to us that Raven's Nest Gallery remains true to our initial vision of building confidence, creativity, and community within the art world. That it remains a safe space for the underrepresented, underserved, unaccepted. A place for the minorities, the gender-fluid, the has-beens, the wanna-bes, the wierdos of the the art world.

We hope to showcase artists who may be just starting out, as well as established artists who are looking for a fresh gallery with owners who aren't afraid to shake up the art scene.

Are we your typical gallery owners? No! Neither of us has an art background. Neither of us knew anything about owning and running a gallery before this. This is precisely what makes Raven's Nest Gallery unique. We have new ideas and a fresh perspective. We are not beholden to anyone. We are ready to make a change. And we sure aren't afraid to make a scene!

Join us on our journey to shake up the art space in San Diego, and to put Downtown Escondido on the map as the place to be for art.
